Single Hygienic Quarter Turn Door Design

The primary reason water gets into an electrical enclosure is that employees simply do not turn all the quarter turns, which is paramount in keeping electrical equipment dry. We provide a Single Hygienic Quarter Turn door for every enclosure we manufacture! Our vision was to take more responsibility to ensure every enclosure door we manufactured is being sealed properly in the field. We accomplished this by redesigning our enclosures so only one-quarter turn is required to keep even our largest 80’’high X 36’’ wide door sealed.

We first had to modify our hygienic quarter turn by adding extended flats so that a standard crescent wrench or open‐ended box wrench could be used. We then redesigned the doors so one hygienic quarter turn with a 3‐point cam and its interlocking rod assembly would be able to keep the door sealed properly. We are currently the only manufacturer in North America that manufactures all its enclosure door sizes with a single quarter turn while maintaining washdown ratings of:

By keeping our enclosures dryer, this simple but very effective design change:

  • Reduces premature electrical failures
  • Increases plant production
  • Increases plant revenue
  • Reduces overall cost of equipment ownership!
